Transition from a Major
Consulting Firm to an Executive
Director at ARK
Could you please tell us about your career so far and your current job responsibilities?
I began my career in April 2000 at an SIer, and, driven by a desire to be involved in upstream processes, gained experience at several consulting firms. Currently, I hold dual roles at ARK as an Executive Director and Department Head. As an Executive Director, I am responsible for formulating ARK’s business and financial plans, monitoring whether we are advancing according to our goals, and ensuring the company operates healthily. As a Department Head, I manage the team within my department, including assignments and development.
Could you please describe what you find fulfilling about your work?
The scope of my responsibilities has broadened, and while the weight of decision-making has increased, I find it very fulfilling. In particular, I am motivated and intrigued by the opportunity to be involved in business and management strategy.
Could you please explain why you decided to transition from a major consulting firm to ARK?
While it overlaps with what I mentioned about job fulfillment, one of the key reasons for transitioning from a major consulting firm to ARK is the opportunity to take on responsibilities and decision-making authority. Although it is possible to achieve similar opportunities in a large consulting firm over time, the scope of responsibility can be limited. At ARK, I was entrusted with significant responsibilities early on and across a broad range, which is the primary reason for my career move.
What do you find appealing about ARK?
One of ARK’s key attractions is the speed of decision-making. The turnaround time from initiating new ideas to taking action is remarkably short. While some might view this as a need for more deliberation, it reflects the agility and speed that only a venture company is capable of doing. Additionally, the relatively young average age of the employees and the high level of motivation among the team members are also compelling aspects of ARK.
What do you see as the challenges ARK will face in the future?
One of the challenges ARK faces is a shortage of experienced senior members and mid-level staff. An ideal organizational and project structure would be a pyramid model where mid-level leaders manage a team of junior members. Moving forward, we aim to increase the number of mid-level staff who can take on leadership roles.
Finally, could you please share a message for those who are interested in ARK?
For those in their 40s, ARK offers an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact and achieve substantial results in your career. If you find this appealing, we would be thrilled to have you join us in shaping the company’s management and organizational development, and in driving ARK’s growth.
